Students will demonstrate proficiency on each of the Algebra I, Biology and Literature Keystone exams.  Students may take any exam more than once, up to and including the annual Spring Keystone exam window administered in May of the Grade 11 year.  If Proficiency has not been achieved by the end of the Grade 11 year, a local assessment will be given to assure rigorous assessment, fair administration, and reliable results are obtained for affected students in the necessary courses/subjects.  In accordance to Graduation Requirements approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, students must meet a Graduation Pathway which is discussed individually with each Senior by their Guidance Counselor, Ms. Ardary.

 

Graduation ProjectBased on new ESSA legislation, graduation projects are no longer required for graduation. 

 

Community ServiceStudents will complete ten (10) hours of community service each year.  The following total service requirements are listed for respective graduating classes as follows:

             40 Hours by May 1 of Graduating Year

 

Community service hours can be completed throughout the school year and throughout the summer time.  Check back for postings of community service opportunities.

 

    Students MUST have completed all academic requirements, including taking required final exams for graduation, served all assigned suspensions/detentions, have a cafeteria balance of zero, satisfied all outstanding obligations (returned all library books, fundraising monies, etc.), return of iPad, case, and charger, have no more than 25 days absent during the school year and no more than 15 days tardy to school during the senior year, to participate in the commencement exercises with his/her class.  Students will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony unless dressed appropriately.

In some cases, students are capable of advanced academic work. Students who complete high school courses during their 7th & 8th grade years will have the option of having the credits and their grades factored into their high school grade point average (GPA) for those courses. Decisions made toward course inclusion on high school transcripts will be required to be made at the conclusion of the student’s 8th grade year. Courses completed, but not included on the high school transcript will require students to complete all graduation requirements during grades 9-12.

High School Course Completion by 9th through 12th Grade Students      

Students in grades nine through twelve are expected to meet or exceed grade level expectations in order to meet graduation requirements.  In the event that a student has not met grade level expectations, Summer School will provide an opportunity for credit recovery.  If a student or his/her parent chooses not to take advantage of Summer School, they do so with the knowledge that the student will not remain on track to graduate with his/her class.  For more information reference Policy 215 Promotion and Retention.

Commencement Requirements

 

Students MUST have completed all requirements for graduation and paid all obligations, including serving suspensions/detentions to participate in commencement exercises with their class. Students will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony unless dressed appropriately.
